We would like to thank Ithaca Local 737 for hosting a successful convention last week in Ithaca, NY. We would also like to congratulate this year's Union Man of the Year Yonkers President Barry McGoey and this year's Fire Fighter of the Year Edmund Courtney Jr. A special thank you to the NYS Honorary Chiefs Association Vice President James Slezicki for making the trip to present these men with their respective awards as well as their annual scholarship donations.
During our convention the delegates reviewed and voted on a complete overhaul and update of our Constitution/By-Laws & Policy Manual. We also heard from Massachusetts President Ed Kelly, and voted unanimously to endorse his run for IAFF General Secretary/Treasurer. IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger also addressed the delegation.
We discussed issues of concern, including a very important upcoming Supreme Court case involving Agency Shop. We have set up a Legal Summit to follow through with this issue. If you did not receive that e-mail, please contact Mike or Sam.
