Action Required: Statewide Listserv for lawyers and Members Only Legal Document Library

Sep 8, 2017 | nyspffa_news

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

As the coordinated attack on our Locals continues throughout New York State, our membership is faced with challenges on the local and state levels.  As you are aware, the New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association is always looking for new and innovative ways to protect our members.

Therefore, I’m pleased to announce the creation of a Statewide Listserv for the attorneys representing our locals, and a Members Only Legal Document Library on our website to ensure that each and every local has the most up to date information at their fingertips from across the State.

We envision that the Listserv will provide all attorneys representing our locals the opportunity to send out questions to the other attorneys representing our members regarding any issue their individual Local may be facing on a given day.  They can also share issues or trends that are developing in their area of the state. The NYSPFFA principal officers and the executive board will also be on this Listserv to share information.  After this service is up and running we will discuss with the attorneys the effectiveness and make any necessary changes.

Concomitantly, we will be creating a dedicated and organized section of our website devoted to posting the most recent and useful legal documents for our members.  Every Local and their attorneys will have the ability to submit documents for posting.  This would include but will not be limited to: PERB decisions, arbitration awards, 207(a) decisions, contract provisions, and much more.

In order to begin this process if your attorney wishes to participate, please forward your local attorney name, firm and email address to David Holleran at dholleran@stny.rr.com by September 15th and they will be added to the Listserv. We will be updating everyone regularly as to when both the Listserv and Legal Document Library will go live.

If any local has questions regarding this new service contact either myself or David Holleran.

Fraternally,

Samuel A. Fresina
President
