Line of Duty Death Notice for Poughkeepsie Firefighter Timothy Gunther (UPDATED)

It is with regret that we announce the death of Brother Tim Gunther of the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department on May 5, 2015. Firefighter Gunther succumbed to injuries sustained while battling a fatal structure fire on May 4, 2015.

At this time, the dates and times of services have not been established. We will provide this information when it becomes available.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brother Gunther’s family and the members of the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Timothy T. Gunther of IAFF Local 596 - Poughkeepsie, New York. Brother Gunther, 54, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from cardiac arrest after responding to an alarm.

The Viewing will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2014 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, New York 12533, (845) 221-2000. On Monday, May 11, 2015 a short, public ceremony will be held at Poughkeepsie's Public Safety Building (the department's headquarters) at 505 Main Street followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at the Mid Hudson Civic Center, 14 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, New York.

Memorial donations may be made to the Timothy Gunther Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Local 596, 505 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
