Drug testing procedures – accuracy in question – An observation from Lee Adler

Dec 14, 2016 | nyspffa_news

During the 80's and 90's hair follicle drug testing was the new employer rage, because it captured marijuana long after used and it was supposedly more reliable than urine testing. It turns out that it is not reliable, and probably hundred if not thousands of workers have wrongfully lost their job due to this test.

NYC unilaterally deployed such a test in the 2000's, on cops, and maybe on fire fighters, too, and our highest court upheld its usage. I wonder what those judges think now.

So, I sent this along to Dave Holleran and other NYSPFFA officers for our locals to both review what kinds of testing procedures you may have in place and to waive a flag of caution if you are negotiating a drug testing set of procedures just now.  See attached article for further information.
