We're saddened to share the news that former Albany Fire Chief Robert Forezzi Sr. passed away early Sunday morning.

Chief Forezzi joined the fire service in 1974 and rose through the ranks when he was ultimately appointed chief in 2006.

Throughout his entire career, one of his biggest concerns was the safety and training of his fellow fire fighters. As chief of the department, he was always fair with the Albany union and easy to work with.

Even in retirement, Chief Forezzi continued to advocate for Albany fire fighters. Forezzi, along with two retired chiefs, spoke out against the proposed closing of Ladder 1 in Albany’s South End.

NYSPFFA's leadership team and members extend our deepest sympathies to Chief Forezzi's family. His contributions to the Albany fire department and the community are beyond measure.

Information regarding the wake and funeral services can be found here.
