{"id":250264,"date":"2022-01-18T18:10:02","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T18:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nyspffa.org\/main\/?p=250264"},"modified":"2022-01-18T18:11:13","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T18:11:13","slug":"nys-update-on-covid-isolation-and-contact-tracing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nyspffa.org\/main\/uncategorized\/nys-update-on-covid-isolation-and-contact-tracing\/","title":{"rendered":"NYS Update on COVID Isolation and Contact Tracing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As announced during the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/video-audio-photos-rush-transcript-governor-hochul-announces-vaxforkids-campaign-increase#:~:text=Bassett%3A%C2%A0Go%20Bills!-,governor%20hochul%3A,-Go%20Bills%2C%20you\">Governor\u2019s COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, Jan. 11th<\/a>, the state would be changing its approach to contact tracing because of the winter surge, with positive cases up by four-fold since December 1.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Effective January 12, 2022<\/u><\/em>, NY has moved to a more\u00a0<u>self-managed<\/u>\u00a0procedure when a person has either tested positive or been exposed to someone who tested positive, with a less active outreach by health departments \u2013 both on a state and a local level (whereas some local health depts may continue to conduct contact tracing).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidance\u00a0<\/strong>is available for the<strong>\u00a0<u>public and for employers<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 along with\u00a0<strong><u>Schools (K-12)<\/u><\/strong>, on the State\u2019s new website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ny.gov\/isolation\">www.ny.gov\/isolation<\/a>\u00a0or<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ny.gov\/quarantine\">www.ny.gov\/quarantine<\/a>) which is now live.
