Under NYSPFFA constitution and bylaws, in the event of a vacancy, the executive board is empowered to fill the position to the conclusion of term on an interim basis.<\/p>\n<p>At its biannual convention scheduled for June in Corning, delegates will consider candidates for a full, two-year term which begins on September 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Santiago has served as First District Vice President representing 28 IAFF unions in the eight-county Western New York Region since 2023; and President of IAFF Local 1071, representing nearly 500 Rochester City Fire Fighters since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Santiago\u2019s appointment is the first time a member of the Rochester Fire Department has served in a statewide role with the NYSPFFA.
