We just received this message from the International.
Affiliate Leaders,
Due to the incredible response from affiliates to the IAFF Convention, our 1,500 room block (which is what we contract for at each convention, per Convention Policy) was sold out – even oversold – within hours. We have never experienced a convention room block selling out within hours before.
We have blocks of 750 rooms at both the Westin and Sheraton. Our room rates are $235 at the Westin and $233 at the Sheraton for those blocks. The Westin had a technical issue whereby they even oversold by 255 rooms. Ultimately, all rooms booked as part of our blocks will be at those rates. We are working with Starwood (Westin, Sheraton), Hilton and the Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau (which can access all hotels in the city) to get more rooms at similar rates.
